Fernhook 2013 Reviews

Fruit-intense and lively, this attractive sauvignon is filled with ripe peach, feijoa and citrus flavours with subtle herbaceous notes. It's juicy and rounded on the palate, leading to a refreshing finish. Wine Orbit 4* 4-star-e1399533026701 Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale on rim. The nose is fresh and punchy with tightly bound aromas of fresh grass and nettles, along with steely mineral notes and a white floral lift. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, well-concentrated and up-front flavours of grassy fruit show with fresh acid bite and a light, phenolic, grainy line. The mouthfeel is dry with strong drive, revealing gooseberry elements that combine with the grassy, nettle-like elements on the dry, lingering finish. This is a brash and punchy Sauvignon Blanc with a good grassy-fruited core. Serve with seafood and herb-marinated poultry dishes over the next 2 years. Raymond Chan 4* 4-star-e1399533026701
