Fernhook 2015 Reviews

It is beautifully lifted on the nose displaying white stone fruit, lemon peel, sweet basil and lime zest characters. The palate delivers lovely fruit intensity and fine texture, brilliantly structured by juicy acidity. The wine is up front and friendly, and is highly appealing. At its best: now to 2017. Wine Orbit 4.5* Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter edged. This has a firm and elegantly concentrated nose with well-packed aromas of pungent passionfruit along with fresh herbs, cut grass and green capsicum notes, revealing a steely, chalky, minerally underlay. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of pungent passionfruit are entwined with nuances of cut grass, fresh herbs and green capsicums and show with sweetness and lusciousness. The fruit is enlivened by crisp, lacy acidity and the wine has a moderately concentrated core that follows a light-textured phenolic line. The flavours of passionfruit carry to a sustained finish. This is a gently sweet and luscious, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with cool-spectrum nuances and crisp acidity. Serve with salads and vegetables, and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from elevated vineyards in the Fairhall district, cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and 3.2 g/L RS. 17.5-/20 Raymond Chan 4* 4-star-e1399533026701
